About This Tool
Instagram Grid Planner turns a single picture into a set of square posts that join up into one large image on your profile. Choose a 3 × 1, 3 × 2, 3 × 3 or larger layout, drag and zoom your picture to decide exactly which part appears in the grid, then download every piece as a 1080 × 1080 pixel post, individually or together as a ZIP. The posts are numbered in the order you should upload them, because Instagram puts each new post at the top left, so the grid only lines up when you post the bottom-right piece first. Everything is done in your browser, so your image is never uploaded to our server.
Frequently Asked Questions
Start with Post 1 and work up to the last one. Instagram places each new post at the top left of your profile and pushes the older ones along, so the pieces have to go up in reverse: the bottom-right piece first. The tool numbers every post for you, and each one also shows its row and column.
Each post is a 1080 × 1080 pixel square JPG, which is the size Instagram uses for feed photos. You can switch to 640 × 640 for smaller files.
No. The image is split in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
Use the biggest, sharpest version you have. For a 3 × 3 grid, an image of about 3240 × 3240 pixels gives every post a full 1080 × 1080 without any loss of detail. Wide images work well for 3 × 1 and 3 × 2 grids.
No, as long as you upload them as they are. Each post is already square, so nothing is cut off. Do not crop or zoom them inside the Instagram app, or the pieces will not line up.
Instagram profiles always show three posts per row, so the grid is always 3 columns. You can choose how many rows you want, from 1 row (3 posts) up to 6 rows (18 posts).
